Hidden Picture Puzzles

Sandra sent this link to Hidden Picture Puzzles on Highlight Kids: an alternative to wordsearches!  She draws a grid using the Go to Meeting pen (she says you can hold down the shift key to get a straight line), and the kids have to give co-ordinates.

Easy Wordsearches

Houghton Mifflin Eduplace

I’ve been using this with my level 1 class.  It’s easier than the wordsearch on the Hangmouse website (none of the words are backwards), and each level has 20+ units.  Makes for handy wordlists.

They also have a spelling match game and (though I haven’t used it yet) power proofreading.

Games (Kid-Approved)

English Vocabulary – Hangmouse is the perennial favourite, beloved by boys of all ages; Match Game for younger kids and lower levers; Wordsearch for girls; Crossword for higher levels (try the Antonym Wordsearch for Metasino Level 3+).

Free Rice – English Vocabulary, English Grammar, Basic Math, World Capitals.  During World Cup Soccer, try Flags of the World.

BookWorm – you can turn off the hideous worm voice with the button in the lower left-hand corner.
